First week of school:

Now:

Her teacher came by the house yesterday to discuss Sara's progress and overall she was very pleased. Sara has already accomplished some of her IEP goals and is struggling with others.
We talked about her upcoming ABA theory and Ms Mairi gave a lot of great feedback about what she would like the therapists to help Sara with. Most of her suggestions revolve around self-help and social skills.
We hammered out a plan to work on pulling her pants down/up for the next couple of months in preparation for potty training over spring break. We have been working on the doing hand over hand, but Sara has a really hard time bending her knees. We both think that this is a strength issue so we are going to be "dropping" a lot of things over the next few months in an effort to strengthen her muscles more.
It has been so great to see Sara's progress. She is making better eye contact, expressing herself more, and actually initiating contact on the playground by saying "hi!". She has become more sure of herself on playground equipment. She loves to climb and run.
We have a busy schedule ahead of us. She will be at school 5 hours per day. Then, ABA therapy is shaping up to be on Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday. I'm exhausted just thinking about it. But, I know that it will be so good for Sara and it will be worth it.
