Anniversary Weekend Happenings

What a full, wonderful weekend....We accomplished 2 firsts.....laying sod....check....leaving Sara overnight.....check!
We laid sod in the backyard....here's some pictures:

Just to remember where we started:

It was hot here yesterday, so we were up bright and early.  In the yard by 7:30am....

 Sod was laid and sprinklers were programmed by 10:30 am.  Like painting, all the prep work of installing sod is the hardest part.  It was a whole lot of digging and rototiller.  A BIG thank you to my dad for lending us a helping hand and the rototiller!

We cleaned up, had lunch, gave Sara a million kisses, left her in the capable hands of my parents, and  headed for the Claremont Hotel in Berkeley.  It was brutal 100 degrees when we left our house around 3:30pm.  A delightful 83 degrees when we pulled into the Claremont 20 minutes later!  We are so lucky to be close to natural AC!

We checked into our room, explored a bit, grabbed a snack and a couple adult beverages and headed to the pool.  Brian swam and I lounged by the pool with a book.  So nice to have the pool mostly to ourselves.  It was 5ish by the time we got to the pool and most everyone was packing up.

We walked to Rick and Ann's for breakfast. We put our name in for a table and headed for Peet's Coffee, which was right next door.  It was overcast when we went to breakfast and sunny by the time we were done. 

We were home by noon.  We were excited to see Sara and Belle!  Sara was so excited to see us..we got quite the greeting when we walked in.  She had a great time with my parents.  We had a great time at the Claremont.  But, we both said that we missed Sara a couple of times.....love that kiddo!

A night at the County Fair

We headed to the Alameda County Fair tonight. It was unseasonably cool which made for a perfect late afternoon and evening at the fair. We checked out the animals

We ate corn dogs. Brian got the monster corn dog...it was the biggest corn dog we'd ever seen!

We watched some cool drummers and Sara got to try her hand at drumming...

More Fun in the Sandbox....

After all of our weekend chores were done, we hit up the sandbox for some fun in the sun. Belle loves joining Sara in the sandbox and Sara said "box" for the first time! Her words are exploding right now....She can say "Ball", "box", and "uh oh". She is starting to imitate sounds. She can roar like a lion, baa like a sheep, and moo like a cow!

Six Flags Discovery Kingdom

Yes....it will always be Marine World to me....We headed to the park on Saturday with Brian's brothers. This was Sara's first big outing with her cousins as a WALKER! So much fun to see her walking. I think it was her favorite part of the day too!

Studio Grow

Brian had today off....so, we decided to have a much needed family fun day. We went to lunch at Chow Food Bar and then headed to Studio Grow. Sara had a blast and we enjoyed having the place pretty much to ourselves.

Sara was all tuckered out and asleep before we pulled out of the parking lot. I think this will become a great spot for us, especially on days when it's too hot or rainy for the park .

Weekend Photo Dump....

What beautiful weather this weekend! The AC hasn't been on all weekend. It made for perfect opportunities to get out and about....and that we did. Brian worked on Saturday, so Sara and I ran lots of errands....Trader Joes, Costco, Target, Kohls, and the library. Sara is loving books lately.

Sunday we chilled out and did a bunch of nothing. Sara is enjoying her Dino more. She has mastered pushing it backwards....we're still working on forward motion! She made the funniest face when I asked her "how did you get way over there?".

Sara hit the bottle early....hey...at least we're starting her off right with a bottle of Elk Cove Roosevelt Pinot

After lunch, we decided to hit up new Rankin Aquatic Center....it was great!

At one point, we had the slide area to ourselves.

They have break time and the area is only open for kids 6 and under. So nice!
