What a Weekend....

This was a good weekend...good and busy! Saturday was spent grocery shopping, running errands, hanging out with Heather, pruning the pomegranate tree, and cleaning the house. Today was all about organizing the garage, rearranging the office, cooking dinner and a DIY project.

I need a space for my crafts and the way the office was set up just wasn't working. So, I moved the table and put the leaf back in, so it's desk on one side and crafts on the other. I'm loving it and already have my eye on a couple other DIY projects via Pinterest....my new obsession...aka time suck on the Internet. More to come......

The desk will never been this clean again....I had to take a picture to remember it by!

Teacher Appreciation Day!

It's Teacher Appreciation Week...and I wanted to bring them a little something to say "Thank You". We love them so much for they make leaving Sara so easy. I know she is in a quality environment full of nurturing people. They tolerate my craziness, they love Sara, and she is happy there. Having been a teacher, I know gift cards are always appreciated. So, I made them cards to house the Starbuck's card, a chocolate bar, and a bookmark that says "It takes a BIG heart to shape little minds". It's all tied up with a ribbon bow around the "sleeve". Hope they like them....it was fun to be a bit crafty last night!

New Use for Old T-shirts

I saw this idea recently, and thought it would be a great, easy project. For those of you that know Brian, you know that he lives in T-shirts. He loves them and can't part with them until they are past the "point of no return". We can only use so many of them as dust clothes, so I think I have found a new use. I have several tote bags that I use at the grocery store. But, these bags will add to my collection!

How to Make a T-Shirt Bag

1. Turn the t-shirt inside out, and sew a straight line across the bottom seam.

2. Line up all the seams. Cut off each sleeve just inside the sleeve seam.

3. Trace a half-circle around the neck hole using a round bowl or lid. I used a men’s large t-shirt and a bowl with an 11-inch diameter. Cut along your pen mark through both layers of the t-shirt to create a bigger opening.

4. Flip the t-shirt right side out again. There is no need to finish the edges around the neck or sleeves. You’re done!

A slight variation of these instructions were presented on the Martha Stewart website in 2007.
